  I'm a nervous wreck! (rant)

  first they told me that my mother was in a persistent vegetative state, and that we (the family) should cut off her oxygen and feeding tubes.

  i told them that it was too soon to be saying that or making this diagnosis.

  they had my family believing this.

  Follow your heart, it is a beautiful thing, even if others don't see what you see right away. I had doctors and even my ex husband telling me I had to have a hysterectomy to save my life while I was pregnant with my 3rd child, who was attached to a tumor in my womb.

  He is 18.

  Sorry about what you went through with your thyroid. My mother has hashimotos and had hers totally removed, I went through 5 doctors before one would bother to test mine when it quit working. I have auto immune thyroid too. I had to learn to be very pushy with doctors.

  Squeek as loud as you have to. Don't be afraid, be as pushy as need be to get the answers and results you know you want. I had botched surgeries and misdiagnoses many many times.

  From one cult to another

  i was the only jw in my family.

  by that i mean my parents never were jw nor was my sister, and i'm single.. when i started fading back in the early 90's as a jw, my sister and her husband decided to start attending meetings with the evangelists, then the pentecostal religion, and then the baptists.

  they're baptized in that religion.

  I agree with many posters who already said that most Baptists are not cultic. You can watch Charles Stanly on TV, "In Touch" one of the very few preachers who are not actual "televangelists" creeps. I'm pretty sure he is Baptist. "Love Worth Finding" with Adrian Rogers is also Baptist I think so you can watch a show to get an idea of what most Baptist services are like.

  Most Baptists teach unconditional love, charity, all good things. They would never encourage your mother to pressure you in any way. Your mom knows that she will have a big empty spot when that day comes, and becoming a member of a healthy church is a good thing. They are not all bad.

  Spent time in the ER this weekend with my husband........seizures.......

  my husband has epilepsy, but only nocturnal seizures and he has had it very much under control.

  in fact, in the 5 years that we've been together, i've only witnessed about 5 or so seizures....and they have been mild ones.

  however, due to the side effects of his meds (weight gain, etc.

  So sorry you have had such a traumatic time. I hope the new meds work for your dear hubby. Stress and changes in meds do exacerbate medical conditions. I do not have epilespy but a condition where stress and heat can trigger neurological tremors, passing out, and other symptoms.

  Wishing you many more happy years together, and good health for hubby.

  What's the oddest thing you have eaten?

  hey i was on holiday last week and we went to a sea-side night market and there was a food stand called "roadkill restaurant".

  the motto was "you kill it, we grill it".

  charming place.. they had crocodile, buffalo, camel, and kangaroo and emu kebabs.

  Poutine. Fries with cheese (most often cheese curds but many places use Mozzarella) and covered with hot gravy.

  Oh now I want one

  I was introduced to poutine on a recent trip to BC, then I seen Shania Twain make a vegetarian version on Martha Stewart show. I then tweaked it a bit to make it vegan and it is really yummmmmmmmmyyyyy ...I used a nice low fat soy cheese that melts, mushroom gravy made with low fat veggie broth.

  If you roast the fries in the oven with a little olive oil instead of deep frying, it cuts the fat content way down. So it becomes something you could even eat every day!

  Are you happier out of the org?

  hi everyone i was just wondering if those of you that have left the org for whatever reason, have found your'e much happier than when you were in it?probably a daft question but i tried to talk to a friend about how i was feeling about a few things and why i don't go to meetings and she said would i really be any happier out than in?it just got me thinking about why i joined in the first place, because i was lonely and down, although i still am several years later it seems!have you found life better on the outside?did you feel a sense of freedom or was it really hard to adjust?when i try to explain what i find hard in the religion they can always say something back that then makes me think i was wrong in the first place and it is the truth after all - aagh!

  Oh yes so very happy!

  It took me nearly a decade to find myself, to find that place of peace and happiness. Now I am living every secret dream I ever cherished.

  It takes time but stay true to yourself, be a friend to new people that come into your life. Set some standards for yourself and the new people you befriend. For example don't accept abusive relationships where you do all the giving and they do all the taking. Seems to be a pitfall some of us fell into. That is a happiness crusher.

  We served an abusive conditional god as a JW, then some of us got intangled in abusive conditional relationships. I had to learn to guard my heart and set some pretty strict standards to achieve a deep peace and happiness.

  I think many of us buried our true selves under a Watchtower magazine. Our hopes and dreams were crushed under "you can'ts", now is the time to fly high knowing we CAN. There is a tomorrow. Love~Happy Kate

  Cooling Off? Any ideas?

  for once this is not about my relationship problems!.

  it is way way hot here!

  i daren't even go outside for lunch otherwise i shall just end up having my own personal sweat fest.. how can i stay cool in my office as london experiences the hottest july day since 1911?

  Wet boobies may get a little uncomfortable. We will be over 100 degrees for some time, normal for the Mojave Desert. I am alergic to heat and the sun so I use the gel filled neck wraps, a fan that hangs around my neck, very loose long sleeve long pant cotton Yoga type clothes (office or not you gotta keep cool) I wear fancy ones for going out. Drink lots of water and rest often.

  Who would you invite to your Fantasy Dinner Table?

  you know the game, you can invite ten real people - alive or dead - who you would want to have around the table for a meal and conversation.

  since it's a fantasy, language wouldn't be a barrier.. i'm still working on my definitive list but some names come immediately to mind;.

  Ten ancestors;

  grandparents, great grandparents, great great etc etc...

  Would like to hear about the cool green hills of Scotland, they could tell me how the sweet heather's fragrance and the fog rolled in. Why they left and migrated to America.

  I long to hear stories of their families. Who had the celtic curse genetic disease I suffer from. What a joy that dinner would be, I'd never want it to end.

  it is pounded taro root

  I see! sounds good. I have had those taro chips they sell at the health food store. They are yummy!

  Yes it is yummy but an aquired taste. Most tourists don't like it. I miss it! The chips are great but high in fat. Poi is pure pounded taro with nothing added.
